Visionaries see around corners.

Visionaries are not bogged down by what is possible and what isn’t. Discernment for visionaries does not come from a place of “is this possible.” but from a place of “what if we achieved this”. They speak the vision into existence first, then and only then they concern themselves with how to make it work.

This is incredibly freeing and the type of person who is just crazy enough to dream up the impossible.

They have an uncanny ability to rally others around their impossible dreams. Visionaries have no shortage of belief in seeing that vision come to life.

Shadow Side

The Visionary's greatest enemy is the finish line.

The curse of The Visionary is knowing which opportunity to chase. It can become unclear which ideas are best when they can so clearly see how big they all can be. You tend to see visionaries take on too many projects or getting distracted by newer “shinier” objects along the way, leaving them in a consistent struggle to cross the finish line.

Finally, Visionaries tend to live in a state of unrealistic optimism. Which is required when attempted to achieve the “impossible.” But can cloud judgment with decision making.

Time and Space.

Visionaries need unstructured time to explore with no specific deliverable attached. This is where they do their best creative thinking. Give them the problem and allow them to freely explore to find the solution. Uninterrupted time like a long walk or when their phone is off, is when they do their best thinking. They need permission to think without the expectation of producing.

Blocked by

Entering into detail too early.

Visionaries become frustrated by the constraints of execution if they are introduced before the vision is clear. Details can kill the vision if it is what starts to shape the vision. This is why many visionaries become frustrated working with others who carry a high level of discernment and invite them in too early.

It’s extremely important for Visionaries to communicate their ideas clearly. Another major blocker for visionaries is struggling to get people to see what’s in their head.
